Located just outside Malton. It is a little away from most of the other sites I've been featuring as it is East of Ripon.

This stately home is set in extensive grounds that is well known for the walks available and the yearly Rhododendron display. The gardens are immaculate and include many impressive statues and follies.

The interior of the house is authentically laid out and furnished. Each area of the house has a guide available and able to answer any questions a visitor might have.

Castle Howard is an amazing construction right out of a fairy-tale, set in equally stunning and extensive grounds so it is not surprising that it’s construction took over a hundred years and spanned the lives of three earls. Began in 1699, the castle and grounds have continued to grow and change over the centuries, slowly evolving into the astounding home we see today. The house remains in the hands of the Howard family and welcomes almost 200,000 visitors each year.

In 1940 there was a fire that destroyed the main dome and twenty other rooms. It was not until after the second world war ended in 1955 that George Howard was able to rebuild the Castle.

There are several on-site restaurants and stores.
